May 30th, 2005 Statement by Seth about Political Prisoners

"Political prisoners are the people that said listen, I'm going to sacrifice myself so the message will get clear to you. I'm standing here with a sign in my hand arguing with the authorities. I have no gun, I have no rifle, I have no dog, I have no chains or handcuffs. I'm standing here as a human being, as a citizen telling you something and you have all this power to suppress me. If you do, you will make a statement to the masses that are looking on today. We've gotten away from that, we’ve forgotten who these people are that call themselves political prisoners and the sacrifices that they've made. If we don't recognize the sacrifices made by those who've come before us, then we deny our history, our culture, our morals. If we deny all of that we redefine ourselves as something that we haven't even earned, because we haven't recognized who we are.

We must absolutely not forget those who struggled before us. We must not only learn from their historical example, we must also learn from their mistakes. We have to fight, we have to struggle. We have to right wrongs no matter where they are; wherever we find oppression we must right it. If we are out there and we are saying we're supportive of change and supportive of humanity, we have to step up to the plate and take responsibility for what we are supposed to do."
