Many/most of you know/know of Robert Seth Hayes, a former Black Panther
Party member who has been incarcerated in New York State for 35 years.
Seth has diabetes and hepatitis C and, as many of you know, he has
received shockingly poor medical care. Recently, his diabetes has been
out of control and for the last 2 months has had an infection on his toe
which has gone untreated. Despite the fact that his blood sugars have

On this day, March 30, 2007, we've come together to celebrate the life
and courage of one of our heroes. Our comrade and friend, Safiyah
Buhkari. As a soldier in the Black Panther Party she fought with courage
and fortitude to see her vision of the People's dream come true. As a
soldier in the same army I came to know and respect her skills and
services with love, joy and high expectations.

Update on Cell Raid

Thanks to everybody who wrote and letters of support for Seth over the raid of his cell and the confiscation of some of his political and personal materials. Following Seth's official letter of complaint he has had his materials returned to him.

Robert Seth Hayes is a former member of the Black Panther Party and a US Political Prisoner who has been locked up for over 32 years. Recently he has been facing increased harassment from prison guards as a result of his political beliefs, and his cell has been raided and political and personal materials confiscated without cause.

FORMAL COMPLAINT

November 14, 2006

Superintendent Kirkpatrick,

I know you are quite busy with daily activities, so I will make this one complaint as brief as possible. My formal complaint concerns the actions of your officers who I believe were acting outside the employee's manual. Doing so, they broke protocol, causing a breach in the smooth and appropriate function and structure of this facility. My personal dignity and self-worth were called into question, and to this day, no formal resolution has come forth from either officers or Sergeant (area Supervisor) of A block. The problem occurred as follows:

Please feel free to forward this information or to play parts of it on the radio if you have your own radio show. Seth is fine with this and he wants to get the word out.

If you're not able to listen to it over the Internet, the very short update is that Seth and his lawyer, Susan Tippograph have prepared a parole appeal which will be submitted in the next few days. It will be important to gather letters in support of Seth for this appeal to let the authorities know that people have here support him and are aware of what is going on.

Greetings,

I am writing to thank you for your support, love and concern in my bid for release at my fifth parole board appearance. Sadly, release wasn't granted. Instead I've received once again, an additional two-year hit for the fifth time, "due to the seriousness of the crime, release at this time would undermine respect for the law." This is a standard, pat answer based upon political views (the governor continually insists that violent felony offenders should not receive parole) rather then the application of the law. We are going to appeal.

Naturally that brings up the need for your continued support. You have been strong for me over this difficult period and I ask you for that support and commitment awhile longer.
